The Nigerian police on Friday, February 17, arrested lawyer, founder and president of Chocolate City Group Audu Maikori.
Maikori’s lawyer Mark Jacobs and Chocolate City’s chief executive officer and recording artist Jude ‘MI’ Abaga confirmed this on Friday.
Makori was arrested by men of the Nigerian police over ‘inciting comments’ in a series of tweets he sent to his followers on January 23 alleging that five students of the Kaduna State College of Education had been killed by Fulani Herdsmen in Southern Kaduna crisis.
Before his arrest, Chocolate city boss apologised for the wrong information contained in his tweets, claiming that he was misled by his driver, who himself was an indigene of Southern Kaduna.
He went a step further by handing over his driver who was the source of the false information to the police.
Makori was arrested around midday in Lagos on Friday after he arrived at the police station on the invitation of a police and shown and arrest warrant.
He was then arrested and flown to Abuja where he was detained awaiting possible charges for “incitement”.
However, Nigerians have kicked against the arrest of Chocolate city boss, saying that arresting the Chocolate city boss and turning a blind eye to the killers of the Southern Kaduna people is the worst form of victimization.
